I've had chickens for 30 years and so I know the difference between a rooster and a hen. I am slowly getting out of the chicken business by letting the hens die of old age. I was down to 2 chickens and lost one about a month ago, leaving me with one hen that free ranges. Yesterday I was out at 7am and heard what sounded like a young rooster crowing. I was pizzed because I thought someone dropped off a young one for me. Anyhow, went out to the cow shed and my hen was up in the rafters crowing. I was gonna catch her and sell her to a circus  'till I read that other people have had the same thing happen. Oh well. I'll just have to wait for one of my other animals to do something equally amazing so I can get rich! :cboy:

That's funny! She is crowing to call in a mate. Get that chicken a friend! :D
She has to be the hen AND the rooster!

It is kind of like the cat I have that thinks he's a dog.
And my goat that thinks she's a horse.

I have one myself and its not as rare as you might think especially if she has no access to a rooster and its always the dominant hen of the yard.
