Hi, my name is Cyndy, I live in West Tx, and I am brand new here.
I have a app. 7-8 week old Dogie that I found, the last time I was able to get milk in him was about 5 a.m. this morning. He has gotten up a couple of times today and drank water out of the trough. He seems too weak to suck from a bottle, so I have been giving his [Unimilk] to him in a bowl, which he was drinking fairly well. Now I have tried all evening to get him to eat and he just wont do it. I took him to the Vet on Thurs. they gave him several different shots, something down the throat {worm med.? if I remember right}, and he had an I.V. in for 2 days. The D5w really perked him up, but now he seems just to be slipping back downhill again. In desperation I even tried to get him to drink Pedialyte (fruit flavor) while ago.....no luck. Can anyone help me.....Please???

How long have you had this calf? At 7-8 weeks old, this calf should be eating hay and grain fairly well. Are you providing those things? Unimilk is formulated to be fed to a variety of species, so it may not be providing the fat/protein needed for a calf - I believe I would be trading it in for a milk replacer formulated for cattle with at least 20% fat and protein - 22% would be better. Be careful how much you give at first, as his system may not be ready. You could cause more harm than you are able to handle. More information is needed.
