Tell me what you think of him.. Dont be rude.
September '07 Heat Wave Steer. NAME: C/T (Cheap Trick)
n504483834_927769_9557.jpg

I have had numerous opinions on him where they have seen him in person and they have all been really positive. We all think that he will be very compedative around here so we are gonna give him a go.. I know the picture makes him look short bodied but really he isn't. I am going to extreme lenghts daily to grow the hair on him and it is defanitley working so.. HE WILL BE READY TO GO TO STIERWALT CLIPPING SCHOOL WITH ME on JULY 26, 26, 27. I am excited.

I think he looks like he drops a little behind the shoulders, but that could be that his head is so high up. Also, I know a judge will probably fault him for having a slope to his rump. He could have a deeper flank, some will tell you it ll come down with age-- Im not sure. How does he walk? Most of his faults are nit picky, but I think once you get some feed to him for a while he'll fill out nicely and be able to stand some competition. Looks like you got a solid calf, good luck with him and have fun at the fitting camp!

K2011 your right he does look coarse through his front end, but in a steer class that would not be a major factor in my opinion. I think that is one of those nit picky things. What I would be interested in seeing would be a rear view and one of his top.

Can you not fix most all of those faults with a good clip job?? I was also told that he will get a little softer(im not sure what he really meant) with age and feed.

How long until the show?
He will be an oklahoma city steer but i will have to check the dates for you.

ALSO, Keep in mind that I just pulled him from underneath the fan to walk him and take a picture. He isn't blown out or combed. I wetted him down and put him under the fan and that is what I got(hair wise). Thank you all for telling what you think.

Pretty good steer. if I'm going to pick on him here goes. He rolls of the hip to much. Tight flank. Top could be more level. As far as the shoulder thing he will grow into that. Hair will take care of some of this. Good luck keep us posted.

I guess the hair could possibly cover up nit picky things, but my cattle don't have much hair going into summer so for me the hair idea would be worthless. Do 5 year old cows in a pasture have 3 inch +++ hair, no, so why the idea of showing cattle with that much hair? I don't get it. Solid steer like I said, I think he'll get better with age.

"A little softer," I believe they were talking about finish. With feed and a little more time he should finish out.

I like him; you have done a very good job. The coat will fluff out nicely. When you clip him be very careful by the tail head. Do not follow his natural line, he drops too much and you will have to make your own line there. Also, he has a lot of dead coat under him; you are not brushing this area enough. Concentrate on that area and you will get rid of the red tinged coat, this will make him look deeper, because there won’t be such a color change there. He is plenty deep if you look past that optical allusion. That’s why you want to get rid of the red tinged hair if you can.

Since your going to clipping school next month, I would not do any clipping on him till you are at the school. It shouldn’t take you that much time to clip him out and someone can help you fine tune him there.

Also, how finished is he, and when you get the date of your show tell us.

You should do well with him; you would have a chance at making auction out here :D .
