mustangs

I read this article a day or two ago and was wondering when someone was going to say something about it.

If the animal rights folks are gonna throw a hissy, let them all adopt say, 100 or so of these animals for their own, each. I don't see any other way to deal with over population except to euthanize them.

I was looking for miniature donkeys recently, and thought it might be nice to adopt one or two, so I logged onto a site with rescue farms in my area. You would not believe what they require. My donks should be treated so royally. You have to agree not to breed them, which is what I do. What good is a jennie if you can't breed her? And you have to make all kinds of agreements. Screw that. I treat my animals decently. I worm them and vac them and get their hooves seen to. I also sell them. And I can't buy anything that I can't make pay for themselves.

I am sure it is no easier to adopt a mustang. I wouldn't have one of them anyway.

heres the thing the public lands can only carry so meny horses.an when that number is passed the horses start starving to death.now the BLM needs to remove so meny horses an donkeys a year.but they dont have that meny people wanting them.even if they culled the old weak an unfitt horses.the public lands would still be overstocked.as for not breeding them thats a dont ask an dont tell thing.

Just outside of Ridgecrest, CA there was, probably still is, a wild/feral horse (they ain;t really mustangs) holding area. It was pathetic to drive by and see hundreds of horses in small dry lots. Used to make my blood boil to see the loads of good hay stacked aorund just to feed to what should have been dog food.

I am from Nevada. The Ranchers are mostly good folks. They have been fighting BLM over grazing rights for years. They are tired of being bullied by the BLM. I think wild horses should be managed just like deer. They ought to cull the old and sick, not feed them for prime alfalfa for years in a corral at the tax payers expence. I wish the "Flower Sniffers" from the city would stop trying to tell Ranchers how to operate. Tom :cboy:

Interesting phrase...Flower Sniffers...Ive had some others..not G Rated Though

I find it extremly interesting that the goverment wants to tell me, as a horse owner, that I am NOT allowed to send my horse to slaughter...and they close the remaining horse plants in the US..yet now, they have an overpopulation problem with THEIR herd of horses and have no choice but to euthanize. At least at slaughter, they would have been used..now they'll go to feed the coyotes Iguess...
