Seams like I remember something on here about it, just cant remember.

Has anybody used it? Is it high powered fairy dust, or does it have a place? I feed a 2 to 1 Cal/Phos mineral with good trace mineral in there. Extension agent says they have done lots of samples and our grass and water in this area is well fortified. He says all I need to feed for mineral is a little copper, a touch of zinc and if it makes me sleep better at night A,D,E. I tried it one year and the mix was basicly 68% rock salt and the rest was my copper and zinc.

What Im thinking about is doing TAI next year. Just wondering if it would really bump up conception rates or not. Usually they are cycling well. Guess I feel thats the main thing unless your doing ET or something like that. You read their stuff and they say less better immune system, less pneumonia, better ADG, find Quadaify....well maybe not that, but you get the idea. For a cow calf guy IDK if its worth it just for TAI or not? Accually I don't know what it does cost per dose? Just mainly wondering if its fairy dust or if it cuts the mustard.

If it is Multimin injection made by Virbac that we have in Australia (Zn, Mn, Cu, Se). I have just given all my cows a dose today, about 4 weeks before I start inseminating and putting the bulls out. I used it last year for the first time and I would have to say the cows were queing up for the bull. I had the closest calving yet. It was a good season though, however I have not been game not to use it again this year.

I use the same product, very good results, as an added benefit it reduced footrot significantly. For best results give it 4 weeks before calving and 4 weeks before breeding.

Cu, ZN and Se

Very good conception rates, short intercalving periods, strong standing heats for AI and no footrot. If I stop using Multimin the first signs is usually a higher incidence of footrot and weaker visible heats when heat detecting for AI, conception rates will soon drop as well.
 
I've not used it but for the uses Knersie and other are telling you about it might work well. Short lived boost in the trace minerals but no long term storage. Over the long haul a high quality palatible mineral with chelated trace minerals and high levels of vitamins would be better. I do see they promote their ingredients as being "chelated" but don't see how they can make that claim with "Zinc Oxide, Manganese Carbonate, Sodium Selenite and Copper Carbonate" for active ingredients.
 
I try to feed a chealeated mineral just before calving through first cycle. I feed some distellers in the dead of winter so sometimes I think that reduces their mineral consumption when I kick over to better mineral pre-calving. They are usually in good BCS at calving time. Sometimes Im seeing ridding 30 days after calving. Im sure they wouldn't stick to that, but it is a cycle. Whats the cost per head????

Due to "other" factors Im considering Timed AI. I just havn't liked the idea and 50% stick rate. They are showing an overall preg rate increase of 13% from Texas A&M and 3% from K state. 9% increase on TAI from K- state study.

I use it on stockers and have for years-- I get a huge jump in gain /day which in turn keep illness down. Wouldn't want to do without it.
 
We used it with Open Heifers, AI females and then cows to pasteur.. what we found .... Cows to pasteur given as we loaded them, 83% breed in the first cycle on grass...

In AI program we gave it with CIDR's and we had a 8% increase in conception then last year..

Open heifers were give it twice, jan 1st and then April 1st and 91% of them bred by TAI ... We have decided to use it again.. :)
 
Hard to believe cows are so deficient, but sounds like giving it with scour shots may be a good start.

I have a couple needy, redish tinged, simmi crosses I plan to experiment with this fall.
