Anyone know a easy way to roll the garbage can from the house down to the end of a dirt driveway. It is about 400 yards.
I am thinking some kind of removable hooks on the tractor bucket. any suggestions?

put a couple of boards on the tailgate and roll her up in there. put boards on truck. drive to destination. undo what you just did.

Laying it on it's side is easier than end over end ;-)

you can also leave it out by the road and put the garbage bags on the back of the truck and take them out to it every so often.

will it not just sit in your bucket?
I could explain a barrel carrier and give you suggestions to
make/modify that to front end loader but it seems like overkill.
r u talking a 50 gallon trash can or a 40 yard container.
fur $5 I'll steal the neighbor kids bicycle and you could use those wheels for a sulky wagon.

I guess it is my fault that I didnt explain that our trash cans hold about 200 gallons. They are square with a handle at the top and two hard 6 inch tires.

Who's your trash pick up company?

Wow... can hardly believe that some rural folks have garbage pick-up. Is this a common occurance for ranchers/farmers in the States?

We drive five miles to a dump site with ours.

Take care.

They started this here about 25 to 30 yrs ago. It keeps people from burning the trash and generates more jobs and taxes.

I think a company called Arrow. We are still living in town while the wive finishes painting, remodeling and generally re-feathering the new nest.

In Wyoming it depends on where you live. Where we are now (7 miles from town, but right off major highway) we have garbage pick-up, on the ranch (10 miles from town and major highway) we didn't.

Same deal here. Because of the number of dairys in the area some of the "refuse collection companys" started going further from town. The neighbors have one company that uses little bitty trash cans and they have to haul them to end of the driveway. We have a dumpster and they come up the drive (1/2 mile) and pick it up. Theirs is cheaper but a pain in the butt.
For areas with non removal services at all, there are a couple of individsuals with pickups and a walled in bed that will collect trash for a fee then they haul it to the dump about 30 miles away.

We're about 8 miles from our City dump. We take a full pick-up load or a 5 x 10' utility trailer full there every 2-3 months. Charge is $5.

Between dump runs, we store our trash here. When we're NOT in a "Red (Fire) Alert" time, we burn our "burnable" stuff in a burn barrel.
