Mortality This Winter

Help Support CattleToday:

Thankfully I've never had any real weirdos... All had 1 head, 4 legs, and fur.. though with the shorthorn I did get some that were "modern art" designs.

That is a lot of miles! I got an old xr500 but it doesn't have an odometer, so who knows how much I put on it... I don't have nearly the long stretches you seem to have, but I do a lot of short trips.

I put the bulls out April 1st and after this winter I wished I calved in the summer lol but I work away from home with my job so not going to work for my situation. I don't have a calving barn just a poll shed open to the south and lots of windbreak panels. In 60 plus days we only had 20 days that was less then -30 Celsius temp and I started calving when it was -38 Celsius and -46 Celsius with the windchill. I have lost one out of 50 born with ten more to calve out. I think luck has a lot to play with it because I haven't been so fortunate.
