If you had the opportunity to trade some land you own that is away from your main operation for some land that joins your operation what would you do. Added that, if you swapped you would end up with 32% less acreage after the swap but you would end up with 40% more useable land.
 
That is one option for sure. I've had several offers. It is a sportman's paradise but it really is hard for me to make it pay its way due to topography and all. Of course, selling it happens to be the option that makes the most financial sense. But, as I've said before, I'm an idjit. :lol:
 
i smell what your saying. land is hard to part with, unlike friggin cows. hey theres another reason to move to the beach--no cows!

( i would probably swap)

You didn't give a whole lot of details but, from what you did give, I would probably swap.
 
msscamp, thanks. I have piles of details but the results vary on how you pencil it out. If I'm going to hold on to land, there isn't much dollar difference between the two. Selling it really makes the most sense but I would have a hard time doing that.
 
I think it was last week. He said he carried them to Ashburn Ga. I don't know what the market is doing but he was pretty upset.
 
Those prices don't sound like what he said. He may have been stretching it or they were junk. Never saw them myself.

yeah some other factors that would matter a lot to me is the size of the acreages and the location. like rural vs. developing area. i would be more willing to swap sizeable tracts than smaller ones. another thing that might come into play is are there other tracts around you that may be up for sale in the near future. old neighbors, etc?

Never have raised anything but trees or a gun on this place - fantastic hunting and fishing.
 
It would be hard to give up a place with great hunting and fishing. Sounds like a special kind of place.

It will be hard but it not everyday you can pick up land that joins you. I've wanted this farm for some time. Offered to buy it but the owner has plenty of money and doesn't want to pay taxes. His weakness is fishing. ;-)
