Here's a bunch of photos from the last couple days, we're getting 6-10 calves a day right now.

Here's our 3rd set of twins, I helped her out this morning. Daughter was the photographer,

More photos by DD,

The smallest calf of the year... Weighed 42 lbs, I think each of those twins will weigh about twice as much as this calf :lol2:

Hobbled cow, she doesn't want to raise 2 calves, but we're winning the battle, she has her own calf and one of our earlier twins.

Close up of how we have her hobbled.

Cow that had cancer eye, took her to the vet last fall and had it fixed. Said she had about a 50% chance of it not coming back. So far, so good.

Dumb calf, would suck everything but his mama's teats, granted she doesn't have a super udder, but it isn't that bad.... Bottle fed him his first meal of colostrum, then had to teach him how to pick up her teats. I think he'll be OK now... He had the best bed on the place though...

Randi, I am sending you a plane ticket to Oklahoma. My wife needs some training. Impressive

Great, a holiday! I'd love to come ;~>.

I handled calving here for most of the last 15 years. For the first few years DH was only around on weekends, the last while he was also home at nights and some days. He just happened to be gone for the morning and the old girl decided that was her time.... I still remember the first calf I pulled all by myself, was such a relief when I got the baby out and he was just fine, it was Valentines Day about 15 years ago....

6-10 calves a day implies you had one busy bull if not AI'd. What bull/cow ratio do you run and did you synchronize the cows? Good job on your breeding program as well as the calf pulling

We run 30-40 cows per bull. With about 140 head of cows. So if you figure that out 140 cows/21 day cycle, that's 6.6 cows in heat per day. If you expect 80% to calve in the first cycle, 5.3 cows should be bred per day. Then add up the cows that calve early, on time and late and there you go....It is always busy like this from about Mar 15 to Apr 1.
