Beautiful. I like to look at pictures and wonder where the place is by the vegetation. I am going to say you are south of Kentucky. Maybe Tenn or Missouri or Arkansas?

Your son has a good eye, I like both baldies, but the one grazing is pretty nice (the black Hereford :mrgreen: ). I'll never have the eye of Knersie, but I may get you started while you wait for better answers. The baldy grazing has good depth, meaning inches from top of the back to her underside. Good muscle in her hip that travels well done her rear leg toward her knee. Compare those traits to the black heifer in the pic below hers.

I feel my biggest problem was trying to see too many details at once, eye set, tail set, pinched girths, udder quality, etc. when you get a good animal, such as that baldy, lots of the other details are there as well. What I'm trying to say is I lost the forest trying to look at every tree. Just my opinion and some thoughts.

I like the Baldie heifer a lot. The Brockle face not so much. The brockle face is cut way too high in the flank for me. Like Knersie said about the other heifers the wedge is pretty much backwards.
Having said that those two would be the best you have posted so far. Having that baldie around gives you a good example to look at every day of where you want to go.

herofan, I thought that vegetation looked a lot like home. I see why you rate her your worst but they are all very nice. Looks are not everything. Some of those that look like a mule are great mothers and always pay their way. Your daughter did a good job with the camera!!!

Come on, surely a few others have some comments. I've had her 6 months, and in that time she has had pneumonia, pinkeye in both eyes(different times), ringworm, and as you can see, she hasn't slicked up yet. Her growth also seems stunted. She does eat well and seems to feel ok now. I don't have a good eye for good body types yet, so I thought, who knows, despite all this, someone might think she had a great build.

she's not easy fleshing
she's not built worth a hoot
and her immune system sucks.
That all adds up to a ticket to town if you can get her there before she succombs to something else!
And your little solid black calf looks great - especially considerng what she's been through. We kept back one that looked a lot like her and the next year - she was one of our best looking. So you never can tell. Just love her like the rest and she'll be fine.

I would never keep one back that resembles the black calf. I believe "like begets like" in most instances. Herofan, that black heifer looks like shyt. Id liquidate her asap... no need to feed a critter that isn’t going to do you any good. If she is a pet, that’s fine, but I couldn’t stand looking out the window to see that thing eating up my grass! :help: Just being honest... :tiphat:
