I think it depends on how bad it gets. Last time they had an outbreak, along with BSE, there were pictures all over the world of animals being slaughtered, bodies burned. The animal rights people jumped on that like a duck on a June bug. If you were reading their boards, they were claiming people could die from eating cattle with foot and mouth, equating it to BSE.

The vegetarian population went way up in England after that last outbreak. When you consider how bad the BSE problem was there, it's a wonder to me that there are any beef producers left. The Brits have been returning to beef, but this won't help.

PETA is on record as saying they hope F&M comes to the US, too. All we need is one kook to bring a pair of dirty shoes into the country and we could all be in trouble.
 
i thought peta wants ethical treatment of animals. how is gettingFMD a good thing?
