Moooooooooo!

I don't mind the cows that Moo occasionally but those ones that are always mooing kind of annoy me. I had a first calf heifer last year that every time I would go out to the pasture, she would start mooing and get all the cows stirred up. She's delicious. ;-)

That's basically what I'm talking about. I have this one heifer who evertime she sees me she cuts loose( it's more like a scream than the common moo) and doesnt stop until I feed. I've never heard a sound out of the others.

Our cows will moo a little when they see us, I guess they are asking 'Hey! are you gunna feed us?' If we don't call back they go back to doing what they were doing. If we call for them to come they go nuts and mooo and mooo untill I pour out the food. I guess they are begging.

If ours think they are going to get a couple range cubes or something, they go crazy with their mooing. I guess it puts them in an extremely good mooooooooooooood! :)

A few of the beef I've slaughtered in the last while were first calf heifers that didn't breed back (or were annoying me :D ). They are not worth much up here these days. They make pretty good eating as long as you let them recover after weaning that calf.

I have one cow that does all the mooing for the rest. As soon as she hears anyone down in the barn she starts. Got us trained!

Anyone have a cow that arches her neck, rolls her eyes around, blows snot, and bellows like a bull? My Blk baldy does this when she thinks I have a treat for her.

The only time ol Granny moos is that soft little deal when she's talking to her calf or when she's in heat. Then she has that "come on big boy moo". One daughter only moos when she thinks it's time to be mooved to another pasture. Her other daughter was (past tense) a constant mooooer. That isn't why she;s gone, but it sure made the decision a lot easier. All the rest are occasional mooers. The usual, where's that calf gotten to this time, where are you moving us to, got any treats, etc.

She thinks she does. Just like my wife thinks that too. I'm the man around my house! I wear the pants in this family!! I've already learned to block both of them out. Just like that commercial about the official and how he can take the yelling and screaming from the coach..... and then it shows him at home getting the 3rd degree from his wife. Thats me. All that noise doesn't faze me the least.

Wait a minute. I think I hear Thelma mooing. Gotta go and feed :)

"GET ER DONE"

I have one that moos at me everytime I go into the pasture...Then comes running for a treat. The Highlands have a particular greating "moo" which is like a throaty growl.

As far as the Snot Blowing and puffing up...I think that is testing your dominance...Seeing if you are going to back down and let her have a higher spot on the totem pole.

9 ER,

As a teacher, don't you remember that there is always at least one student who's hand is always up...like a cow that always moos.

OK...admit it....how many times have you mooo'd back. I have a few times.

I laugh at the different sounds the calves make when they see me coming when they are being weaned. Some sound like music students during their first clarinete lesson

yea, but that kid has to go to the bathroom. They dont ask many questions now a days.

My wife moos back a lot. I just say "hey mama" and go get some feed.

I've learned through the years that with women(including cattle), if you give them what they want then they will leave you alone for a little while.

It's like that new slogan: "Diamonds.........................That'll shut her up!"

Mine don't moo much unless I let them run out of hay and don't get another bale out quick enough.

This morning, I went out to check on a heavy springing heifer, and they thought I was going to put out some cubes. The heifer stopped out by the feeder, and mooed in a soft reproachful, questioning tone until I left for work.

Got the same show going on here as well, some wait patiently, whilst others will give me anything from a low moooo to a screaming"get yr butt in here and feed us" mooooing going on, that is of course all the while they are standing in front of full hay racks!

cross more brahma into them & they won't moo!!

Righty-o. They do moo when they have something to say but can go quite a while between moos. What bothers me is the calves at weaning, they never shut up and neither do the cows.
