Missouri proposal could keep calves home longer
A proposed tax break in Missouri could help encourage producers to hold their calves longer and perhaps finish them in Missouri rather than other states, according to an Associated Press article. The tax credit is part of a tax bill state lawmakers passed that currently is under review by Missouri’s governor. The proposal, in response to higher corn prices and growing availability of distillers’ grains for feeding, would offer tax breaks to producers who keep their calves beyond weaning and would help fund development of feeding facilities in Missouri.
