Drove to the ranch of one of my sis's (Julie) in the Keating Valley near Baker City, OR from WA on Friday. Had a good visit with and helped with the scurrying around prep for her youngest son's wedding (Saturday). Our accomodations for the weekend were fabulous -- a big old log house, now used as a hunting retreat, owned by friends of sis, a few miles from the ranch, up a goat trail, and with a private trout pond (no time to fish). Wedding ceremony was great -- their preacher was a hoot -- and the reception was very well planned and very nice. We were exhausted last night, but stayed up late to visit with family that had come in from all directions, so we didn't get up as early as planned this morning . . . .
The screamin-deal 10 ft. Powder River feeder that we bought a month or so ago in ID was delivered by the seller from Parma to my other sis's place nearby, which was picked up by the bridegroom's brother from Boise and delivered to the Baker City ranch this weekend (it takes a village to move a feeder). So, we loaded that up on the trailer this morning along with a couple of 12-ft. feeder panels I got from Julie. Then, we were headed home, via Pendleton, where we picked up the new PR sweep system, the cut-out gate, and a no-back stop. Another section of alley and another alley bow will be delivered to us, no charge within the next couple weeks. (. . . it takes a village . . .) Those guys in Pendleton did a great job of loading around the feeder, etc., and strapped it down so tight that I don't think it moved a 1/2 inch all the way home, where we finally arrived at 6:30 p.m., tired and worn. It'll be a day or so before all that stuff gets off-loaded. Right now, I'm sipping (slurping?) a glass of wine and will go put my feet up for awhile while the heated mattress pad warms up!
Hope you all had a good weekend, too!
