with the wind chill it was minus fifty degrees celcius here yesterday.It took 40 miniutes before my old tractor got warm enought to bang on all its cylinders and that was with the rad covered--- no bugs though

Yep- thats a little nippy....The weather service reported that yesterday West Yellowstone, Mt. was 51 below WITHOUT figuring in wind chill...But its always cold there...

We are warming up here -- only 10 Below this morning..... :roll:

My Dad, Mom, and I were living in Helena that winter- where my little sister was born in July 53.....

The lowest in the US was -80 at Prospect Creek Alaska on January 23, 1971....

International Falls Minnesota holds the record of the lowest average mean temperature of 36.4 degrees......

Bigbull you'd HAVE to move in those temps, otherwise if you so much as stand still even for a few seconds you'd get mighty cold pretty darn quick.

There was a story I read about that the it was so cold out that the cattle had to keep moving so's they'd stay warm, grabbing snatches of hay as they walk by...i think it was from that book "Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy" by Rich Hobson...

Carlos, Thanks but no thanks. The thermometer in my truck showed 73 this afternoon. The truck thermometer is usually off a degree or two but not far. In the recent couple of weeks the grass is growing with the rains and warm days and nights

It was cold here to yesterday, not as bad as you but with windchill -36. That's why I am glad I live in balmy Alberta instead of Manitoba. 8)
I water our heifers with buckets and a hose. That was fun. By the time the third bucket was filled, the first was icing over on top. I was telling them to drink fast.
We are going to be in the pluses again by Tuesday though.

Husband keeps reminding me that it may be cold but there are no snakes. It was a point well taken.

Oh! boy that's cold, I thought ours was cold but not after reading those temps. it is about 10 - 12 Cel: during the day and 2- 8 at night. which is quite mild for this time of year.

I remember a few years back in the 1980's, that it was so cold in New York, you could not go out for more than twenty minutes at a time. It was on the NEWS and my Brother was working out there, and rang me to tell me how cold it was. I'm shivering just thinking about it, no wait the Heating has gone off. :roll:

62F here today, should be in the 30s or 40s this time of year. First time I've ever vaccinated cattle in Jan wearing a t-shirt. This global warming thing isn't so bad after all.

I use to work in the northwest territories I have seen it at 54 below celcius-- and we worked outside all day (we were in the bush so no wind )we were pretty young but it didnt seem to bother us that much---I think there comes a time when it's cold
a few more degrees doesn't matter much

It was too cold here tonight at 30. Of course we were outside trying to get the trucks out of the mud in the pouring rain and sleet. No snow coming, but lots of ice over the next few days. I hate the cold more than anything. Not supposed to get this cold in Texas. Ill take the 100+ summer heat over cold anyday.

And I thought it was cold here this morning. Got in the one ton started the motor, let it warm up for a few minutes and proceded to put it in reverse and give it a little gas and the rear tires just spun on the ice. Got out laid some traction material down, tried it in reverse again and saw the shed shake a little. So then I gave it some more gas and the wall of the shed started shaking harder. Got out tried to walk around the truck couldn't get past the headlights, they were froze to the side of the shed. Got back in the truck turned the lights off and had no trouble backing up. :shock: :lol: :lol:

OK I know I'm from Alabama but I read this and thought "Huh?".
Reread it and then it dawned on me that you were making a funny and saying the highlight (beams) were frozed to the barn. HaHa I'll have to remember that if I ever get in that situtation.

Was the shed still lit up after you pulled out. Had that happen once in Montana. Dern near knocked out the headlights when I pulled back in that evening.Z

I knew what he was talking about right away duh. I'm from Northern MN. We got so cold the other morning that when I turned off the headlights the light just stayed, frozen solid till that 40 watt bulb in the sky thawed it out. :shock: ;-) :cboy:
