Minimum wage is $7.25 in KY, but nothing I see advertising for help is that low. Fast food restaurants generally are advertising starting pay around $12 if I remember right.
Sure can’t find anybody to do any farm work, or small handyman type jobs for under $15-20, and even then at that pay they ain’t to be found very reliable.
Last year, when we went out of town, we asked around friends about the possibility of their driving age teen to 20 year old children or grandchildren, would want to make some money feeding out chickens and beef steers. Crickets from most, Finally a near 20 yr old that was already working doing farm work with his family agreed to do it.
I’ve know a guy about my age, a little older that can build and do most any kind of house construction or repair work.
Used to could get him to do odd job repair work for $20 an hour. Usually had to pick him up and take him home, then clean up after him as he was a very messy worker. Now he won’t work, drugs and alcohol have taken him over again.
Really don’t want him around in that condition anyways as some of the people around him we e suspected of stealing some stuff from us.
That’s the thing around here. You can’t trust hardly anybody. The guys working in our hay a few years ago, we know stole something from us, and likely are responsible for stealing more stuff.
If you can find somebody willing to work it’s a good chance that you don’t want them on your property.
