Miniature Horse Stud

I have a 3 year old Mini-Horse stud that has one testicle down and one still inside. I was thinking about gelding him. Would this type of surgery be very expensive? Is there any chance of the other one dropping? If so, what type of nutrition would help. I know this section is for cattle but any answer would be appreciated.

At 3 years of age, the chances of that testical descending are about nil. I don't know what the cost would run. If the testical is visible under the skin, I would think the surgery would be more simple & less expensive than if they have to "fish" for it. Unless the testical was retained due to injury, this is probably a highly hereditary condition and the horse should be gelded.

You might try posting at www.ruralheritage.com - they have a section where an equine veterinarian posts.
