Two dead trees are located on the west side of a five strand barbed wire fence. Cattle are also on the west side of the fence and crops are on the east side of the fence. Both trees are leaning toward the northwest. Which way do they both fall?

Probably lengthwise down the fence. It would be too easy to fix if they fell across it

I'm gonna say east or whichever way it has to fall to land on the fence. Dun's probably right, landing crossways would be too easy.

Well do you remember the question if a tree falls in the woods does it make a sound if no one is there to hear it? I still do not know the answer but you sure can bet the tree will fall on the fence even if there is no one there. And the cattle will find it. :cboy:

On the fence. Apparantly Murphey's Laws are not influenced by physics. BTW - the prize money can be collected by the first one that fixes the fence. ;-)

I voted for north, just to set myself apart. But if you look at this logically, a tree will usually fall opposite the direction the wind is coming from. Around here, winds strong enough to knock over a tree blow more from the west than from the east, so the tree would generally fall to the east.

The only direction they can cause the most grief.........east.

I'll take the prize money in half dollars..... :D

No can do, you'll have to settle for 20,000 gallons of pennies - once I finish collecting them.

I am headed that way Jo I can fix a heck of alot of fence for a milion $

And I hope you don't go getting picky about the type currency.

Well I just finished fixing the mess. Anyone ever seen 4 foot tall poison oak/ivey? I also noticed without these two trees there is no shade. ;-) Oh, just a tip for you fence fixers out there. When you go to splicing fence together it makes the job go a lot faster if you connect the 2nd wire from the bottom to the corresponding wire rather than the third wire. Or is that what ya'll mean when you mention a cross fence?

Jo I had a fella working for me once and we will just say he wasn't the brightest bulb in the box but was a real hard worker as long as it was simple
well he was clipping fence on a stretch that was 1/2 mile and about middle ways he get the 2nd and 3rd wire crossed and doesn't realize it as he was walking back he noticed it and came and told me that when I stretched the wire I had crossed them
at this Time I knew exactly what he had done and I told him how to fix it, in his simple mind my solution would not work and he told me so
I made him undo it and showed him what he had done. I still don't think to this day he realizes what HE done or how I fixed it without taking the whole fence down
