Milk production from beef heifer

Hi We just had an angus beef heifer that calved. She had just a slight bag and has never really filled out much. The first day we fed the calf and it is now day 3 and the calf seems to be getting enough from her mom but since we have never had this before we are wondering if the heifer produces enough milk, if she will get better as time goes on and if she will develope a bigger milk bag if we keep her for another calving season. You aren't going to see an udder like a dairy cow. Those are freaks. If the calf is getting enough, don't worry. Normally the udder looks bigger after the first calf.

In udders, size doesn;t matter. I doubt if a woman with a quadruple d cup produces significantly more milk then a b cup. As long as it's prducing an adequate amount a large udder can cause more problems then it would solve. Udder breakdown, etc. is alwasy a concern with large udders. Got a 3 year old now that looks like she should be in amilk string, calf is growing fine but can barely use even half of what's there. I'm sure the cow will be pretty short lived in this herd. But then you get the ones that have broken down and just don;t deteriate any more. Granny is 15 and has pendoulous udder, not horrible but not great either. Her udder looks the same at 15 as it did at 7.
