I have found jersey cows need more calcium than holsteins. However if her protein is to high her milk will drop. Moldy hay will drop milk production.Your problem doesn't always need meds.I had a cow milk fine pm. milking. Next morning she had NO milk. Cows beside her gave her all the alfalfa she could eat. She liked it but no milk for the calves. Fed her straw for next 3 feedings. Milk came to normal. She was fine & calves were fine.Didn't give her milk to soon in case it would harm them. To much protein in calf takes linning out of calf.
