Two groups of Central American migrants marched to the U.S. Consulate in Tijuana on Tuesday with a list of demands, with one group delivering an ultimatum to the Trump administration: either let them in the U.S. or pay them $50,000 each to go home, a report said.

Among other demands were that deportations be halted and that asylum seekers be processed faster and in greater numbers, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

The first group of caravan members, that included about 100 migrants, arrived at the consulate around 11 a.m. Alfonso Guerreo Ulloa, an organizer from Honduras, said the $50,000 figure was chosen as a group.

“It may seem like a lot of money to you,” Ulloa told the paper. “But it is a small sum compared to everything the United States has stolen from Honduras.”

He said the money would allow the migrants to return home and start a small business.

b..b...bb...but... I thought it was SO BAD.. that they can't even LIVE... the gangs.. the drug dealers.. the rapes.. HOW can they start a business with 50k.. wouldn't the gangs steal it as soon as they got back?>

I'm so confused.

I have reached the point that I could support a wall. My problem is that no one wants to pay for what the government does in this country. Every project like this requires more BORROWING. MORE NATIONAL DEBT. Suggestion. The wall is estimated at 5 billion dollars. That means it will cost 15 billion. Figure what that is for every tax paying household and add a bill for the cost of building the wall to our 2019 federal taxes. That way at least we pay for the dang thing.

Mexico is paying for it.

On the high end, that's:
Approx $233 for each adult in the USA for the construction and materials and $2.50 each adult for one year's maintenance.

Fenceman could build it cheaper, taller and faster.

I would go as far to offer them a free bus ride back to the Southern Mexican border and a full belly. The wall at first I thought was pretty far out, now it doesn't sound like a bad ideal. The wall has worked in China since the Ming dynasty.

Dam straight!!!! ....and he wouldn't be working any bean eaters either... :cowboy:

Already got a plan. 5 inch oilfield pipe drove 10' deep on 10" centers. Then filled with concrete. I'll need farm fence to bring a couple of drivers down.

Can’t divide cost between each adult and get it paid off...not all of them pay taxes. That in general is the problem.

Bullets are cheaper and deliver the message better. I can't believe we don't just tell the illegals to stay the heck out of our homeland or we'll kill you, and then just do it if the illegals don't listen. But this could all be avoided if it was legal to shoot trespassers on private property that was fenced and posted. The stand your ground law needs to be taken seriously.

I used 27.7 million less than the actual population as the divisor..........do I need to decrease it more?

Maybe better use 8" posts on 10" centers...remember...these are starving, hungry immigrants they probably skinny as a toothpick and might be able to squeeze thru a 5" opening...

 Probably. I don’t know the stats....do we have 27 million taxpayers out of the 300,000,000 or so residents in the US?

Just tax the heck out of any money sent to Mexico/Central America. That way the illegals who are already here will be paying for the wall.

The number I keep hearing is 47% pay no federal income tax at all.

47% of working Americans or 47% of the total population?
24% of the population is under age 18. 16% of the population is over retirement age 65. That (for the most part) accounts for 30% already.

People have to make big money to pay taxes. A couple has to make over $26600 to even file. I know this does not make a lot of sense to the high rollers on here. A young couple working several jobs at minimum wage and with a family has a hard time making ends meet and do not make enough to pay taxes. Every job held by an immigrant legal or not creates three more jobs in the community. If every illegal was sent back the economy would collapse. Maybe not the economy you live in but in the service economy that we all use from restaurants, motels, golf courses, maid services. Meat processing in beef, chickens, hogs, dairy. How do you think a 10,000 cow diary hires labor. There are companies every where looking for skilled people that they want someone else to train. Time to educate the work force to have the skilled workers.

: either let them in the U.S. or pay them $50,000 each to go home, a report said.

If we fail stupid (we often do) and pay them, they'll come back next year for a repeat payment. They'll probably bring several cousins along this time to get in on the gig.

If the wall costs 50 billion to build or over and illegal immigration cost our country 100 billion a year to taxpayers isn't that considered an investment? Maybe I'm just thinking this wrong.

But think about the Children!!! We should give 50 billion a year to all of the dreamers.

Of course we never think about our own child, just other people's children.

I might be off on the cost.

The Trump administration wants to enforce border security with a combination of a physical wall and natural barriers that would protect the estimated 1,933 miles-long border between the United States and Mexico. Many different cost estimates have been thrown around, from as little as $8 billion to as much as $70 billion, with anywhere from $150 million per year to $750 million per year in maintenance.

This is a government project. We all know the level of corruption that will go into building it, I bet this thing's going to cost at least $100B to build. Do we really need it? What's the actual cost of illegal immigration in this country? What's it going to cost us when natural born Americans refuse to pick food and the price skyrockets? I firmly believe that if this thing gets built (which it won't) it's going to be Trump's ACA. The folks that voted for him will love it, those that didn't will hate it.
