Anyone know about micro nutr? If I give my herd minerals how much pass through them back on to the paster.?????? Come on Doc,Dun If i gave my cattle 200 lbs of CO-OP repro minerals and they are on 20 ac at the time how much micro goes back to the ground....

I would think that a lot would depend on the growth stage of the animals being fed.
The same should be calculated for nutrient removal from pasture. I have read that the average is 20% per year per cow calf pair.

Not specifically answering your question but I did find this info that might give you some idea. Cows will take retain up 10% of the N and 15% of the P from the forage. Using this as a guide, I imagine most of the micros from minerals are going to be left on site. Not trying to be vulgar, but have you ever noticed the color change of your urine when you are on vitamins? Seems most of it is leaving your body. (I hope this is universal otherwise something might be wrong with me. 
)
)I guess what I am getting at , is if I feed a 100 tons of hay and give a ton of micro minerals to my cows on X amount of acs. what is the fer. I get back...Seems to me that the out side source of feed must have a fer. value...

I have some pastures that test wonderful on soil tests due to this importation and I don't fertilize them at all. Don't need to. The key to doing this is to move hay rings around the field whenever possible so all the dung won't be concentrated in one area.
