I have no desire to prove or disprove anything you care to believe or not believe. Honestly.
It's not about proving or disproving anything. Were you just asking a rhetorical question in your original post? I was simply looking for an answer.
There is no such thing as a totally unbiased person pretending to be absolutely non-racist. There are only different degrees of racism.
We agree here. I grew up in a racist culture. It has certainly affected my thinking and feelings. The question is how much an individual will choose to get a grip on themselves and fight those tendencies.
Some people (and I am NOT necessarily insinuating you) are simply too weak-minded to do so.
Well, when you start off with something to the effect of "call me a racist if you want.....", what kind of hunch do you think most people will have?
By the way, I bet I have as many or more friends of color that I could call on at anytime as anyone here.
Excuse me if I'm not impressed with this old saw. If I had a dollar for everytime I heard someone justifying racist thoughts or actions by using the, "but I have lots of (insert here: Mexican, Asian, Black, Indian) friends", I'd be a very rich man.
Sounds like some would like to condone crime because the perpetrators are poor.
I don't condone crime. I just happen to find economic explanations for crime a much more satisfying explanation than the color of someone's skin.
Maybe that you could explain this to the parents of the 13 year old girl who was gang raped and murdered here a while back. Bet they will feel lots better.
