A water melon farmer noticed that someone was stealing his melons at night, so he watched the field for a few days and couldn't catch the guy in the act. So figuring he could out smart the theif, the farmer put up a sign in his field that read "one of these melons has poison in it" Thinking this should keep the theif out, he went home for the night. The next morning he went out to the field and there was a new sign in the patch that read " now two of these melons have poison in them"

Takes me back to my college days...when I stole watermelons from in front of the Safeway...and got busted! The worst part...I don't like watermelons.

Plus the darn things are cheap, but there is something about them that says take me! If you ask twenty people if they ever stole a watermelon I wonder how many would say yes

Not cheap here ~ cost enough that they are only bought for special occasion at our house.

I sell watermelons and one day I had the old mayor from a neighboring town stop. Now everyone has their little tricks for picking a good one and he was doing the old "thump" test, said he learned it in high school. I said that really the best way to pick a melon is to see if the belly is yellow and the stem is curly. His reply was, "It's hard to see the bottom in the pitch dark" :shock:

i just bet most every1 has snitched a melon.if they lived close to a melon patch.i dont like melons at all.but 1 thing is for sure they not cheap at all.in the stores here they $5 to $6ea.now thats to high.

Once the prices fall and the field is left idle, I enjoy walking in the field with my machete and splitting them in two and pulling the hearts out of them and just eating the hearts. Kinda messy business but well worth it. ;-) I do love eating watermelons, specially when you can leave your manners at the house. :lol:

i dont really know. i was not there for that part. but i can guarentee it was a steal.

I was warned by the local possum sheriff that if I got caught shooting someone stealing my melons, he would arrest me for "shooting over a baited field". :help:
