Mastitis Question

I have a Cow that had a calf on Saturday. Last night I noticed her udders's left front quarter was swollen with a big knot in it. Probably mastitis I would think. What medication or remedy do you guys and ladies normally adhere to in this situation? I really hated seeing this, because I was hoping to get a heifer or two off this particular Lim/angus before she went to the market. The calf incidentally is a bull, soon to be a steer. It appears the calf is sucking the bad teat, and other than the swelling, the teat itself isn't blown...

You've already treated her with something?

Since the calf is suckling, I'd go with an injectable antibiotic and also strip the quarter down as often as possible if the calf isn't doing it.
First drug of choice would be a penicillin formulated for mastitis; ask your vet which is suitable - I'd use masticillin but I think that may be NZ-made. That's presuming the infection is a strep uberis.
If there's reason to think she's got a staph or e-coli infection she'll need something different. If penicillin doesn't fix it that's a pretty big clue that there's something other than strep involved.
