I found a Massey 253 for a reasonable price. I've been looking for a 50 to 60 horse to use primarily for loading round bales, spraying and running a sickle. Was just wondering if any board members had any experience with this tractor.

As far as I know it is very much the same as the Massey's of old, good solid and reliable.

Just can't hardly go wrong with a Perkins diesel. Got a 1977 A4 236 had to have the injectors rebuilt a couple years ago, tried to get massey to cover them under warranty.

You will be amazed at how stingy it is on fuel. It could actually come near paying for itself on fuel savings.

I have a 253 fwd that we got new in 95 , It's a handy little tractor , I never had a loader on it . those perkins motors are hard to beat. I have an old 135 , they both have a 152 3cyl motor but the 253 is turbocharged giving it 48 horsepower.
