Marias & King Rob Semen

I don't know on Marias, but did see some on a website for $60/Straw on KR. I believe the buyer took all of it.

I have 100 straws of King Rob that is just waiting for someone to come & buy. :D

BRG, I take it that you are not high on King Rob! What don't you like about him?

If you could buy one straw of semen on any red angus bull past or present. What bull would you pay the most for?

 BRG - Terrific question! I would also like to know why the negative position on King Rob - and why? AND - the reasons WHY you would choose any particular bull.

The Red Angus breed is gaining in popularity, and I feel it would be beneficial for everyone to get a better understanding of how that breed has developed in the last ten years or so. This is a fine way for a discussion to ensue and get some opinions of current breeders! OK??

Let the games begin!!

I never said I didn't like him. I bpurchased the semen as an investment wanting to sell it again. I bgot it before Genex came upon a bunch. I was selling it for $80 a straw. Now I am sitting on it.

I wouldn't really want 1 straw of semen, I would want at least 2 so I could flush. But the #1 bull would be Rambo 502. My next choice would be either a bull that I own but only have a few straws left and that is Hammel Run Cloud 525 or DKK Powersurge.

I think I would like a straw of BJR Yogo, or one of the Pioneer Bred bulls.
". . . . .ONE of the Pioneer Bred bulls??" That is pretty general - which "ONE" and WHY? What criteria do you use for bull selection which would allow you to 'settle' for ". . . ONE of 'such and such' bred bulls? I am not privy to "Pioneer Bred bulls", but I do know that they do not ALL have the SAME phenotype and Genetic traits, so that sounds to me as if you are using a NAME rather than individual Characteristics in your "Bull Selection" protocol.

I am very interested in hearing your assessment of "Pioneer Bred bulls". They must really have . . .something? What is it??

Probably D0202, well put together and he is in the background of a lot of good cattle through the years. Their were a couple popular ones and they were all line bred to Choctaw Chief. With the linebred nature of them, one should be as good as the next. I would have just said Choctaw Chief 373, but I know where I can get his semen, don't on the PBC bulls.

I'm really not sure what we would pick for elite semen. I have been thinking about it for quite a while.

Red Cows how is the Master Plan bull doing in Canada? I believe Brylor's have him.http://www.brylor.com/

He is a good bull that seems to be working. There is a lot of big breeders and money behind the bull so you don't know what to believe from other people. The daughters seem to be better than the sons so far. His calves are usually a nice dark blood red colour.

Only what I've read and heard. He is the sire of LCC EBV 3531 and I had heard that he was a source of the marbling in the EBV cattle. I would like to know more about him also.
