Marda Blacksmith

Anyone used Marda Blacksmith reg# 18460820. He will be turning 3 years old shortly so should have some calves on the ground. Considering using him and wondering if the calving ease EPD is real and how the calves looked. Also anyone used his sire, Connealy Black Granite, in a fescue environment. And if so how did they handle it? Do they slick off fairly early?

I don’t like him. He moves pretty poorly if you ask me. And he’s not all that attractive to me.

Steps in his own tracks ok, but doesn't seem to have any flex on his hind legs. Over-condition, as mentioned, may play a big part in his tight movement.

 

[Boot Jack Bulls]

I would be interested in updated video/pictures of him. He was a NWSS sale bull, so you can bet he was fed well for that. It is rare to see a bull that did well at NWSS be in working condition...most of them are way over conditioned and move like fat steers.

Side note* The Marda program is well known for bulls that can compete on test. They are less known for show ring success.
