There are several pieces of land with cattle near where we live. Two inparticular are between 20 and 25 acres each. Both have at least by my count while driving about 25-30 cows on them routinely. Anyway there seems to be manure everywhere, what I mean it appears that there is more manure than there should be. Am I right in saying they have too many cows per acre?

Not if there is adeqaute forage between those manure piles.

Then again, some people have to feed hay all winter with no grazing and put the cows in a smaller area for calving, etc.

In fall we go "turd-busting" with the tractor and tires. Don't pasture the cows in winter and by spring another layer of top soil has been conditioned.
