Man vs Wild show

Has anyone seen the Man vs Wild show. I think its on Discovery.

That guy is a IDIOT. He's going to get some young outdoor enthusiast killed will his teachings. One time he thought he had a bear in camp and when he thought the bear left he took off running in the dark.

I agree the show has turned into a bit of a joke for me. I saw one show where he was comming down for the top of the volcano in Hawaii. As he got close to the ocean he had to cross the "sharp hazardous" lava beds. But in the background of the shot the was bare land and easy walking just about 1/4 mile off, he tried to make it sound like it was his only option.

Reminds me of Bagdad Bob.

How about the episode where he made the club (looked like a bowling pin) then threw it and killed a rabbit!?!?! I'm not entirely convinced that there wasn't some camera 'magic' happening there!!

Don't know the show particulars but slinging clubs at rabbits is very effective with a little practice. We used to do this as kids. We would take a 2 to 2.5 foot length of 2" wood dowell (usually had my uncle turn them out of hickory on his lathe) and thread a large nut on the end. My uncle was a bridge builder / iron worker and could get us these big heavy nuts. With a little practice it was uncanny how accurate you could get throwing these. A sidearm technique was the best as you only had to hit within two feet of the rabbit to kill it. Rabbit are not tough so even marginal hits knocked them dead. We used to walk the train tracks in the winter and look for cottontails. I have even hit a few on the run butthat is more luck than skill.
