This hog almost killed my neighbor, he lost 70% of his blood, he was on am 740 with Michael Berry, Houston Texas telling his story this morning.
I have pictures of his injuries, but they are so graphic, I might have to have permission to post them.

that looks like one nasty hog. hope your neighbor makes a speedy recovery. a big thank you to any and all that helped save his life.

I had never really seen their tusks before. My gosh no wonder they can tear up people and dogs. At one point I thought wild hogs might be entertaining to introduce, you know like a more formidable game animal that would meet you coming down the trail.
I have a very short list of things not to do: 1) Do not play with explosives 2) Do not introduce wild hogs to the neighborhood.

We used to trap them in Florida. Had many great bbqs. Had them upwards of 400lbs and haven't had tusks like that.

Well wishes for the Injured. May he partake in the harvest.

Boar ferals taste rank and bad. What you want is the young female shoats (half grown females) Thats good eating. For some reason Europeans think rank boar is a delicacy. Lots of frozen boar meat is exported over there, so I hear.

A few years ago in the nearby river Coquille river valley an elderly farmer went out to feed his hogs and never came back. The family went looking and found his boots and eyeglasses in the hog pen, that's about all that was left of him.

Our German Shepherd heard hogs one night in Texas and ran up the hill in the dark. There was the sound of snarling and hogs screaming. She had a shock collar on. A size 6 correction brought her back after she ignored lower voltage. By some miracle she was unhurt.

Once the board reach 100 lbs they start getting rank, almost inedible.
The young boars are good,we cut them in half and bbq them, they are very tender. 25-40 lbs.

If we get them up to 250 lbs you can still marinate and smoke the blackstrap with good taste. The rest of the hog is rank as noted. I do know some folks with very stout pens that feed the big ones out 3-4 months and say they are good. I’ll pass though

Did it get the artery in his leg causing him to bleed so much? It's a big hog for sure.
