Lute or not?

I have a cow that calved last month. I have been neglecting to take her out of the pasture with the bull before she cycled back. I want to A.I. her to a specific bull. Yesterday I noticed that the bull was sticking very close to her. I am moving her out tonight to another pasture. Should I go ahead and give her a shot of lute now just in case he bred her last night or today......or since I plan to synch her up starting August 4th does it matter since she will get a shot of lute during the synching process anyway? I don't want to do 2 shots of lute if the one I give her during the synching will do the trick.

Due to my schedule hook I have to do a timed A.I. as I can't spend the time heat detecting. I have to plan them out to the hour.
 
Not positive but i think you need to wait 10 days after the bull for lute to work. If thats the case then it should work pretty close to your synch date

Im not real familiar with AI protocols but I'd think you could work backwards from your schedule and hit her twice with the lute
 
It won't work until she has a corpus lutium. She won't have one for at least six days and more likely seven. Wait at least a week and then hit her. Also, you cannot expect a cow that just aborted a calf to turn around and breed back regardless of how small the embryo was... It does happen but it's RARE. It's best to wait about ten days, give her the lut, and move on as planned rather than to just assume that the syncronization proccess will handle it for you. If you rely on the syncronization to handle it you'll have a wasted straw of semen and an open cow that's syncd up for the bull.
