how are the studs? Hammering with an impact with out a torque limiter is not a great idea,it justs stretches the studs. i had aluminum wheels that came loose all the time torqued them to 150ft pounds and no problem since

When I put the mud grips back on this fall, the summer wheels were still tight. I used to "torque" all the lug nuts with a 3/4" ratchet, but got this fancy 600 lb air gun so I quit hand checking them. This spring/fall I went back with the ratchet after putting them on with the air gun, it's not putting them as tight as I had been doing by hand. 600 ft/lbs my ass.

That is the max take off ...........wheels should be torqued with a torque wrench. If not some cars will warp the brake rotors from an improperly installed wheel.......:)

I had the same problem with my dodge
Don't EVER let anyone use those torgue adapters to put the wheels on your 1 ton
Lug nuts on my dodge says 135lb but the book says 175lbs
started making them torgue them and never had a problem since
but did ruin a set of studs over the deal

Had a GMC a few years back and two wheels started to loosen. Try for a month
to keep them tight. Had to go and buy new wheels to put a stop to it.Price-e

You have to keep in mind that cfpinz has/is a loose lugnut anyway!

Wife says it's uncanny how much yourself and me are alike. You sure you weren't in Virginia in the mid/late 70's?
