The Lubbock Musem bought a trained team of mules (10 to 12 years old) for $3,000.00. Had them killed and stuffed to "lend an air of reality to the exibit".
Musem says the animals were sick and 28-31 years old.. Who pays that much money for old sick animals?

$1500 for each mule?

I wonder if they'd like to make it a 20 mule team---or add a little herd of rangey ol crossbred cows to it?

You folks around the escarpment better watch out and ride like heck if ya hear they want to add some more 'lifelike' cowboys to the exhibit.

i'm about 60 miles east of lubbock of the cap, so all my news, tv and etc comes from lubbock.
they said they bought them from a kill buyers so they were going to be killed anyway.
you can never tell about them folks up on the caprock :D

There's two stories out - one, bought from killbuyers, the other,a young well trained team. Ether way,I think the Museme shudda stuck to the fiberglass mules.

Have a neighbor who bought a few saddles and got some horses thrown in with the deal. I think he paid around $150 each for the saddles. The horses ended up birthing two colored mules. The state of found about them and paid him several thousand dollars for the pair. They are now at a historic site and he is still laughing about the deal.
