anybody used bluegrass or a son of bluegrass? Dont know anybody who has used him and was wondering about his calfs out of purebreds. Going to buy a 1-2 year old between feb and may, one of the sales will have a Bluegrass son with some great ced and bw epds, looks good too. I like the look of the Bluegrass in the pictures but have never seen him in person. Does he look that good in the pasture? Does his phenotype transfer to his calfs? Also wondering about calfs growth, neither Bluegrass or these sons Im looking at have real great ww, yw epds. Calving ease is a must for me, this bull would be a clean up bull and there are some heifers and comm cows (an,an-char,gelv-ang, herf) he would be exposed to. Thanks for any advise. Will try to reply as I can, not much time, not good with computer. Thanks again

Kingfisher, thats the one. I've seen that pic before just wondering if he is that good in person.

Sizmic, thanks for the pics. I can only view the second one for some reason, but he is a good lookin fellow. We have bred f1 angus/char with char mama cows and angus bull and got some great looking calfs that were real good doing. Never used a f1 bull before but I know a reputable breeder that sells several at two sells per year for years now. They dont bring as good as the reg. but dont miss by much. There is a demand for them, that tells me some folks are getting good results with the f1 bulls. My main consern is calfing ease and just wondering if the phenotype will transfer.

thanks

Most of the Bluegrass sons I've seen aren't that thick. He is a great calving ease bull. The bulls I've seen out of him are deep and long, but don't have a lot of butt in them. I suppose if he were bred to a top of the line cow, the calf could be good. But he has to be bred to top of the line cows....
