Had a calf born last Wednesday night. Everything was fine, but evidently he decided to lay down next to the hay ring last night and got trampled. Found him dead this morning.

One of those crappy deals.

Have had 41 live calves out of 41 cows, and this unfortunate event happend. Only have 4 cows left to calve, and three of them will be sold as pairs. Hope nothing else freaky happens.

Its always hard. I hate losing any animals. I feel like a failure when I do. I second guess myself and replay everything I did back in my mind to see if there was anything else I could have done. Usually there is not. At that time I take satisfaction in knowing that they did not suffer.

I hate it to, and you always second guess yourself. I've been in the cow/calf business since I was 12, and I always have and always will hate to lose one. Cow, calf or whatever. But that is a part of it and I understand that.

The way this one happened, doesn't sound like a pleseant way to die.
