We will have 30 grassfed calves alailable October 2008. They will be Feb/March Angus, Simmetal or Angus/Simmital cross. My location is northcentral Indiana about 30 miles from the Ilinois state line. I'm looking for a market for these calves. As a small operation, does anyone have any suggestions how we can get a better than sale barn price? Thanks

One thing we have done in the past is put a load together with the neighbor - do you have any that have similar calves? Spend some time at the sale and maybe get to know the buyers - talk to them about what you can do.

Why don't you advertise them in the Farmworld? I always check the classifieds in there before I go to a salebarn. If your not subscribed to it, its a weekly newspaper that obviously deals with farm topics, its for people in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, and Tennessee.

Farm Girl-- can you turn off the blinky thing on your profile.
It sounds silly but I have migraines- and it doesn't take but a second for that thing to mess my head up.

Or even better-------- is there a way I can block her posts from showing up on my screen?

Go have a talk with your local salebarn manager. Ask him to block you a particular time during his regular saleday to sell your calves and announce it ringside for a few weeks beforehand.

You can then advertise your calves any way you see fit. Posters, mailings, TV, whatever.

He probably won't charge you any more than normal.

Like the old saying goes........."Know what happens when you don't advertise"?-----NOTHING!!!

You can put her on your foe list. Click on her name below her avatar. Go to the next screen and click on "add foe." You will then get a confirmation screen. Click yes. You won't see it anymore.

Thanks BackhoeB--
Farmgirl- I have you blocked now so ignore me asking you to drop your blinky light.
