Went in to buy some ammo the other day and the place was hopping shelves were dang near empty.
There were stacks of new guns in boxes said they couldn't order them fast enough.
Makes a fellow wonder if were are not on a road of very dark days for our country.

Gun sales are up here. I heard something like 30%. Seems prices are up also.

Here in Va. it has been on the news.

concealed carry permits up substantivley.....I don't remember the percent.

gun shops doing a gold rush business.

Ammo is hard to find and I have 10 different calibers and guages of guns.

Had the annual gun show in town last week or so and it was at a bigger venue and attendance was up about 25 % over last year.

Most say it is over fears that the socialists in power will now move to restrict gun and ammuntion sales in the near future. the less diplomatic fear a coming trauma.

I guess we are a bunch of old commies or something up here in Canada because we have had gun control for a long time!
In my own opinion it really isn't a big deal. You get a license to buy/sell and you have to register every gun. If you are a crook or a nutcase you can't own a gun. Handguns are really restricted and no way does anyone pack one around.
I owned quite a few guns before the regulations came in and if I wanted to buy anymore I'd have to go take a course and get vetted by the cops before I could get a license. Instead I have a "possession only" license which means I can buy ammunition if I produce the license. A lot of old boys never bothered registering their guns and now can not buy ammo. You have to also store guns in a safe locked cabinet or have trigger locks on when not in use.
Personally I think it is a pretty sensible solution as you don't have a bunch of guys running around with guns who never should have had them in the first place? The real criminals can still get illegal guns of course...mostly from the USA!
I think most people up here don't consider it necessary to own a gun to blow someone away or something. I think we are a bit more laid back than Americans?

This is funny. So your crooks can't have guns huh? Well ours can't either but somehow they all have them. I think most are coming out of Canada. :lol2:

Oh, and nobody up there packs one around? :lol2: Just watched a show on Discovery where they were talking about all the criminals in Canada and the amount and types of guns they have in their possession. Give me break, we all have the same problems. It just goes to show ya all that regulation you guys have up there don't help the problem one bit.

Maybe we need to pass a law that says criminals and crooks can't own a gun. I'd like to see them add baseball bats as well cause I surely would rather take some lead to the forehead than be brained by a Louisville Slugger.

I think criminals can always get guns. Happens in every country of the world.
In Canada if you do a crime with a gun you get another ten years in the can.
I don't think it is a bad thing that the government requires citizens to be responsible owners of firearms? If you aren't a crook or a nutcase you will have no problem buying a gun in Canada.
Maybe I am brainwashed. I was always taught a gun was a tool that should be handled safely and with responsibility...not a toy.
I don't know why you guys get so excited about gun control...don't you trust your leaders?

First and foremost it's in our CONSTITUTION.

Apparently you are more laid back than we are, you let them do this to you. I bet you all feel safer now that YOUR guns are securely locked up so that you can't get to them. I'm sure the crooks are a happier lot, now that they know they have plenty of time to kill you while you are trying to open the gun safe. BTW I have heard that they are not enforcing those laws like they were. They found out it costs a lot more than it was worth to subjicate their citizens.

NO......
not one damned bit.....they are politicians and they will say or da anything to hold on to their position and power.

3way: I live in a pretty remote rural area and we don't have a lot of criminals trying to kill us. My kids are all grown up so don't have to worry about little kiddies wanting to play with guns now.
You are right about the cost and not much enforcement of some of the rules.
For me personally it was no big deal. Do the paperwork, send off application and $10 and it was done.
I very seldom need to use a gun. Occasionally shoot up the gophers and maybe put down an old animal. Don't hunt.
Feel no need for protection in the area I live in. Have no desire to pack around a handgun.
Our constitution does not give us the right to keep and bare arms. Yours does and I can understand your point of view in that regard. I thought President elect Obama said he would respect that right?

His voting record and his choice of VP says otherwise.
