I bought this tractor (390 MF) from my friend back when we were still in Rochester. That would have been 2017. Plan A was to put a loader on it. Well a new loader cost more than I paid for the tractor. It took considerable searching to find a used loader in good condition. Finally found this one. It is a Farmhand F258 that came off a 4020 John Deere. The mounts that were on the tractor didn't fit the loader. The mounts that came with the loader didn't fit the tractor. My friend Ken at Haines Ag & Auto made the two work together with a little cutting and welding. I went out and tested it at the hay yard. Lifts a 3x4x8 like it is nothing. That grapple certainly secures the bale. Now I have a tractor with enough reach to unload a hay truck.

That looks like plenty of loader for that tractor. It should be able to lift more than the tractor can. Good way to have it, can't break the loader that way.
 
What is the tractor Dave? Looks like a very strong loader. Might have to use a good counterweight. I have a Kubota M7970, looks a bit similar and it just keeps lifting, needs that counterweight though.

The tractor is a Massey Ferguson 390. That is a 83 hp tractor. The loader came off a JD 4020 which is a 80 hp tractor. As I said I went out and picked up a big square bale which is what it will be doing. It lifted it like nothing. Drove around a little. Again hardly noticed I had anything on the loader. The Farmhand loaders were built to go real high. I parked beside the hay stack and ran it up as high as it would go. I am not going to take bales off the stack that high up.
