I'm sure it's been asked before, but how often do you put lime on your hay fields?

I usually put lime on when a fall soil test says I need to put at least 1 ton to the acre. Usually around 5 years here but it could be different depending on the type of soil.

We put it on the first year that the soil test doesn;t show the ph is going up or if it's lower then 6

You probably need lime, most of Ky does. I don't think I would just up and spread it without a soil test though.

Tested a lot of my ground last winter and some I thought needed lime tested 6.5 and some I thought didn't need lime tested 5.5. No way of telling or setting a time without a soil test.
