We are having a good bit of lightning tonight. I have seen it in the winter before but not very often. Just wondering if some of you folks have lightning in the winter?

Down here we have a saying about it. Thunder in February, frost in April. It's very accurate. We had a big lightning storm last night.

You got that right, I was thinking about it the other night when thunder was rumbling.
It is true as well.

Not uncommon here, but we've a lot more than usual this season. I'll bet y'all have also noticed your static discharge has been more frequent and exciting this year as well :lol2:

We don't get thunderstorms very often in winter, but when we do it's usually extreme. 1970's, had a January thaw that got up into the 70's. Cold front moved thru, spawned severe storms and tornadoes, killing several kids at our town's school. When it "thunder snows", the snow usually comes down in chunks, very heavy accumulation.
