I've been a bit blue lately . . . a combination of lots of things, including a high workload at uni, ongoing drought and no feed and no stock water, financial issues due to buying feed, social factors with a couple of my friends really depressed and struggling at the moment, my hay hasnt been delivered so my animals havent been fed properly since monday and at uni I'm being placed in a situation at the moment which is not what I am used to at all and I feel uncomfortable -- I dont like change, and I've been in a situation where I've been feeling so lonely and out of touch. Its just all been combining to give me a lot of stress, and I've been feeling a bit disheartened and wondering whether I should be doing this, if I'm doing the right thing, if its all worth it, and just how I'm going to get through it all.
Anyway, so today after uni I had a few things to do, I had to go pick up some more feed and hay, plus go and get my mohair samples back from the test lab. And you know when your feeling a bit down and you've had a long day you dont feel like doing a heap of errands, you just want to go home. So off I went, and I went to the feed store and got my feed and hay, and had a chat to the bloke there about things and goats, and I started to feel a little better. Then I went to the lab and picked up my samples, and do you know I chatted to the woman there for an hour. We just got started talking, because she grew up in the town I live in, and so we talked and talked about everything and anything and nothing, and it turned out in the end that her son is one of my uni lecturers, and we spoke about agriculture at the moment, in the past, and the future, and we spoke about the opportunities and the benefits to the community that the uni brings, and we spoke about goats and sheep and cattle, and about my future and possibly becoming a vet, and she was so friendly, so warm and open and yet I didnt know her, and she was so encouraging. I really really really enjoyed speaking with her, and it turned a not-so-good day into a really good one. I'm just feeling a lot better right now, and even though none of those issues have gone away, I just feel so much happier in myself.
I am just so grateful for her, her kindness to a stranger really made all the difference to me today. I thank God for crossing our two paths today, and if you wouldnt mind thanking God and asking Him to bless Janet Condon and her family I would appreciate it. I certainly will be.
