One of my cows has developed a popping or clicking sound in her right rear leg. It sounds like its down in the lower joint/ankle area. It does not seem to be swollen although she does favor it. She is ready to calve any day and its to far to make her walk back to the barn to the chute. Any ideas of what might be causing this?

would not worry about that till after she calves anyway. my bet is the calf moving in position for birth. think about the change it makes in her structure during that period. im bettin its gone when she mends back after birth. course age has alot too do with it too.. good luck

Went to check the girls and the cow that limped and popped so bad 4 days ago was leading the rest up the hill to get fed. How can a leg or foot/ankle that made so much noise 4 days ago be back to normal? What would cause the popping noise I heard the other day?

Had a neighbor look at her today she is limping as bad as ever. Neighbor says she probably has arthritis. Nothing in her foot. My question is , what can I do to help her out. She is due to calve anytime. She is on the list to make a one way trip after she calves and the calf is old enough. But in the meantime I would like to make her a little more comfortable. Had I known she was going to get in this condition I would have never bred her. She showed no signs last summer or fall. Any advice would be appreciated. Didn't know if there was something safe for a lactating cow. Thanks Joe

Give an aspirin per cwt twice a day for a couple og days. A handfull of grain with a dozen aspirins will probasbly do some good
