Our farm is just North of Pensacola Florida, we love both cattle and deep sea fishing, and our location works for both. Living in Florida you learn to live with the threat of hurricanes, however nothing prepares you for 22 inches of rain in less than 24 hours. It has been a rough couple of days here for sure.

This photo was taken off Pensacola Beach Florida .

This is a neighborhood just a few blocks from our office in Pensacola.

A photo taken on the Escambia Bay Bridge last night they closed this bridge many in our area are completely washed out.

This is a photo of our lake at the farm, you can't see the dock but the concrete bench sits on top of the dock the lake is 5' above the full level

This is a picture of the overflow pipe on the lake we have never seen this lake this full.

Ronnie spent the day checking cows all were fine, reports from the storm last night was at one point over 60,000 lighting strikes in one minute we for sure had a light show going on here in Florida. Please pray for all those that have been impacted by this terrible storm.

Gizmom, the lightning was as bad as I've ever seen. Monday night the sky north of my place was glowing with a white light that never flashed. It stayed lit up and just sort of pulsed. I was dreading it getting here. It hit us after midnight and the thunder was so bad it shook a deer head off the wall. I was Some kind of worried about my cows but they made it through.
How far from Jay are you? I use to spend some time down there when I was young.

Deep South

We are about 20 miles from Jay proper by Road probably half that as the bird flys. I know what your talking about our house shook harder last night than it did during Hurricane Ivan and he was a bad one. Both my husband and I volunteer with Florida Baptist Diaster Relief looks like our next call out won't be far from home.

Wow, that is some sort of rain... that's 2 years worth for us! I have seen 12" in 24 hours and that was already a darned mess. I have never seen lightning anything close to what you're describing!

I'm glad to hear you and your animals are ok.. heck, you even have internet service it seems! Despite it may not be that fun, it looks like it could have been worse.

I think you guys are hogging all the rain :O, we've been waiting for some for a couple months now, and the usual dry season is just starting

Well I spoke to soon when I said we didn't have any losses due to the storm. Ronnie our recip group to a different pasture yesterday, all of the cows were accounted for, they didn't count calves. This morning one of the cows was running the fence looking for her calf, they found her, she had been hit by lighting. Of course this is an ET calf our of purchased embryos. We got two heifers out of the four eggs so now I have one heifer out of that mating. The mating was Sinclair Eriskay 2N1 7883 X Coleman Foundation this was a really nice heifer calf I am just sick. I guess it could have been worse with the amount of lighting we had we were blessed that this was the only loss but it sure hurts.

Giz.. sorry to hear about that. really feel for you guys down there. hope things get back to normal for you soon.

It sucks to lose one but I'm glad for you that that's the worst of it. You've literally had more rain in one day than I've had in the last two years... It just boggles my mind.

that's a really sad picture . does anyone know what would happen if a herd of cows were in a storm all bunched together and lighting strikes one ?
glad your ok.

If lightning strikes in the middle of a group, they all die. It isn't fun to see.

Just saw this thread. Hate that y'all have to deal with the water and sorry for the loss of your calf. Hope the water situation has gotten better.
