Have you ever got the impression that some people couldn't tie their own shoes if it weren't for you? I must have a sign on me or something that says "Problem Solver".

Had a heck of a night with phone calls. Just when I was about to doze off the dam NRA calls the house with another crisis and really needed my financial help. Now I'm all for our constitutional right to keep and bear arms but this is getting ridiculus. Nuff said. I asked them for the umteenth time not to call me again. I'll be talking to them next month.

Next the phone rings and there is a woman complaining about a cow I finished for her. She said the meat was wonderful but she just realized she didn't get any liver and wanted to know what I was going to do about it. I politely explained to her that I was confident the cow had a liver when I sold it to her. I was also confident it had a liver when I carried it to the butcher for her. But from that point on, I was out of the equation. I asked her if she had called the butcher. But of course not. I suggested she do so and take the matter up with him.

Again the phone rings. Its a hunter who leases some land. He is all upset that we have peanuts planted in the field and there is not a road to his deer stand. He asked me if I would meet with him on the property on Saturday and we could decide how I would construct a road so he could get to his deer stand cause he didn't know how he would be able to get to his stand with the peanuts planted in the field. I explained to him that peanuts would not be in the field during deer season cause we will harvest them. In utter amazement he thanked me for solving his problem then asked me if I could meet him out there to help him pick some spots for his tree stands.

Wasn't it a full moon last night?
 
The way you handled that lady you sold the beef to is perfect, high quality. Of course it was your fault she did not get the liver. :roll:

Kind of like how it is the bank's fault when a person's account is overdrawn. :roll: :dunce: :lol2:
 
man you did have a bad nite.on 2 of the phone calls id say well you get everything you pay for.i sure as heck wouldnt build a road so some1 could get to their deer stand.
 
John, some of them are going to be boiled. That's the only way to eat em. :P Of course I'll eat them raw, boiled, parched, floating in brittle - don't matter. Like them goobers I do.

Bigbull you're right. Not going to do that. Besides, what's wrong with walking? (well in his case he'd probably get lost without his Onstar) This fella is from out of state and I really don't think I want to be anywhere around him if he has a loaded gun. I can just imagine the "trophies" he's going to shoot this season. :lol2: Look ma, I got killed a trophy spike! :lol2: :lol2:

ugh i know what you mean! sometimes us smart people have it tough... we are surrounded by helpless morons who make three times as much money as we do!

I've tried that. My caller ID says New Jersey, California, Florida, International (with a Dallas area code!) I wonder if the folks in Pakistan, India, Samoa, wherever, have gotten my number on their lists yet!

That's what I thought to but it is not so. My number is on the federal and state do not call list. Apparantly the NRA is a political lobby group so it is exempt.(Ever notice how entrenched gov't entities are usually exempt from laws that affect the common person?) I did sit at the house until the suits at NRA finished their latte's and got to their offices. I asked to speak to someone in charge of large donations and was promptly connected to a nice fella. I informed him of my problem and how his telemarketing agency has harrassed me for the past three years and promised him that if I received another phone call from them I would send a sizeable donation to whichever liberal democrat was causing them the most trouble. I further promised him that I would continue to write letters to congress and do everything within my power to see to it that their exempt status is removed. And I meant every word. You shouldn't have to ask someone more than 7 times not to call you anymore.
 
In response to the title above. Make the Government drill for oil! Instead of our Pres going to foreing countries begging them to do it. Outlaw ice cream trucks. Time the stop lights so we don't have to stop at everyone. Grow the roasted salted peanuts, those are my favorite. Fix my toilet so I don't have to flush it twice. Make Texas a cool 70 degrees all summer long. :clap:

I have a blocked number as well, but it was my understanding that organizations who had already established contact with you would could continue contact ~ like being grandfathered in. This is not so?
 
Well, Mr. Jogeephus, you sound like the kind of man that can handle it. I'll get back to ya' with a list of all my problems. Will ya' take Van's problems, too? We can sure fix ya' right up!

Angie I think you are right but there are other exceptions as well. I went to the federal do not call list last night and posted a complaint. Then I started reading the rules and they were written by an attorney and I lost interest rather quickly. Whether they are exempt or not, it just seems like it should be common courtesy not to call if asked not to.

Alice, would a free membership to the NRA be helpful? Just think, if Van has to leave town or something a membership in the NRA will insure that you will always have someone to talk to.:lol2:

Walt, if you will get in the habit of flushing your toilet once a month whether it needs it or not this would probably help. Your attempts at having a small carbon footprint is getting a bit excessive here. Water is afterall renewable. ;-) :lol:

Your right for once. Once you are in, your in. But, if you tell them not to call you again they are supposed to comply. Before you go negative ask for their name, then tell them you want your name taken off the list. If that doesn't work, the next call you get, ask for their name and ask for a supervisor. Get his/her name and ask to be taken off the list. This has worked for me. When you ask them to take you off the list they have to do extra work. If they think you can't track them they won't bother. The supervisor on the other hand is more responsible and has more at stake. These call centers will hire anyone. My brother-in-law worked at one.

I think we all feel like we have too many problems to solve and I wouldn't mind it if they would come one at a time .

Jogeephus, Look. I usually crap outside. That is my contribution to the green movement. I live in TX and can't afford TX to get any hotter. The toilet gets flushed plenty because I can't get my wife or the daughters on board. They still use more than one sheet to wipe. Now you know why I always complain.

You hit the nail on the head. Sleep doesn't come easy for me cause I'm in constant pain. I had been on a tractor nearly 12 hours a day since the rain and was tired and was two sheep from oblivion when these important calls came in. Just hit me the wrong way I guess so please excuse my rant. :oops:
