I am trying to drill some temporary pasture for the cows to graze late this winter/ early spring (feb,march,april) in rder to give my new fescue some time to build a good root system. I was thinking of 50% oats/ 50% ryegrass, or maybe throwing some wheat in with it. I know cattle tend to bloat on wheat or oats alone but my vet said to put a good bit of ryegrass in it and they should be alright. I'm in North Carolina, good soil and fairly mild winters. Any bright suggestions?
