just saw another past posting. i don't know how they find me.

i was out of school and do not know of hiding under the desk for drills. perhaps they did not do that in my locale.

i do remember seeing a civil defense sign in a courthouse i san saba. it was located between the black restroom and the white restroom in the courthouse.

i thought that was interesting as there was only one black family in the entire county and they had a private restroom. not being racist, just a coment on the times.

i voted for john kennedy. he was a good choice to deal with the missile crisis. some later i met john connally at a restaurant in buchanan dam texas. i voted for him too for governor.

this ties together as he was shot also when kennedy was killed. bad things can offer encouragement.

following were trips to southeast asia. several tours around the block can change a perspective. i will not comment further now. i just alwasys get misty eyed around memorial day and other random days.

I have spent a night at the old Dofflemyer Humble building/hotel in San Saba just a few weeks ago when I drove over to buy 100lbs of pecans. Wife and I really wanted to move there (San Saba) back in 2022, but couldn't find a house that suited us at the time. Same with 2nd choice of Lampasas so we settle for Cove. We did wander around the mill pond park tho. Pepperbelly's Mexican food place is one of my favorites.

hope you enjoyed the pecans and pebberbelly's has been a good choice for years. san saba always claimed to be the pecan capital of the world and neighboring llano claimed to the the deer hunting capital of the world. probably not official, just texas braggadocio. mill pond was nice except when heavy rains put highway 16 several inches under water across from mill pond. copperas cove puts you in a good neighborhood with llano and san saba. hope you like it.
