KY 31 overseeding

I didn't get a chance to overseed an area due to it being really wet... Whats the latest I can overseed an area that I disc up lightly .. I was thinking if i planted it now it should be ok ... Is that true ?

Thanks Tennessee... I woke up this am and had frost on my windows this is strange for this time of the year so if i get a good bed for the seed i think i will be ok.
 
I am also still reseeding. We are caught in a high risk situation regarding the survival of what we are planting. Right now we may not get the germination we want and if a real hard freeze sets in within a month we could lose the seedlings. If we wait till Spring to sow then the seedlings may die next Summer due to poor root depth and dry weather. My suggestion is to take the soil temperature. If it is near 50F or higher sow the seed and sow about 3/4 inches deep. This is deeper than I would have sown a month ago. The seedlings may be slower to emerge but less likely to heave with the ground crust freezing. Usually Spring planted fescue for me fails come August. Have you considered planting some cereal rye with the fescue as a nurse crop? Good Luck

No I haven't really thought about that maybe I should... Good Luck to you as well... I hope it makes it I will only stick maybe 100 lbs on the 4 acres I need to overseed ... So if it doesnt do well then im not out of alot of money and I will go back and put another 100 lbs of it in the spring in april.
 
geez raining again for next few days... I am thankful for the rain and i know many others would like to have it and wish they were.. I cant overseed or pick my soybeans.
 
i decided to add some winter rye and perennial rye to my ky 31 and got 5 acres overseeded today... YAY.... only 10 more acres to go...
