He needs to go on antibiotics and may have to get the lump surgically removed in a month but right now I am just going to continue to spoil him rotten . :D

Alison, the lump is on the middle of his back just to the left of his spine, it is either an infection from a foreign object as a result of a scuffle or and injection.

Great news!

Thanks Slick, yes it is. :D
I guess after losing our beloved border collie at the age of 12 to transitional cell carcinoma one thinks the worst, especially when the vet does not like the biopsy results. We are very elated ,even Mr HD was ecstatic when told the news ,who does not like cats except this fella, that he is going to be alright . If it was an injection site sarcoma we would only have had a few months .
My pets mean the world to me, they are so much a huge part of our family

Thanks Alison, Ken and CKC !

CKC not yet , hubby left for up north yesterday for a few days ,so steak will have to wait . I am having fun though with his antibiotics ,he needs 2 pills twice a day and if anyone has ever popped pills down a cats mouth they will know exactly what I mean . :help: I am actually quite good at it, not a single vet has ever been able to get a pill down him ,so I always have to do it .

Thanks ILH :)

I have my very first battle scars from giving him his meds, tried to pop them in while wearing shorts and no socks very very bad idea. he tore up the back of my legs pretty good . :devil2: So those back nails got filed right down and I now wear boots when I dose the little bugger . :help:

Looks like our cat scrappy except about 20 lbs heavier. I've got a great idea on how to neuter him if you want to hear it..something about a boot and lots of stitches

My cat weighs 5.2 kgs ,so 11.22 lbs Hook and he was neutered 7 & half years ago ,but when those huge back feet slug you ,he does whop a punch like a 30 lb cat . :lol2:

Got the estimate for his lump removal surgery on Friday ,$689.00 ... :???: Haven't decided if we are going to get it done though, Nikki needs to be spayed this month and have FHR on her right the end of October. Nothing like spending thousands and thousands on your pets . :bang:

just getting around to this thread, HD. What a beeee-you-ti-ful cat he is! Great stripes. Glad it's benign. And too bad small animal things have to be so expensive, isn't it?

Thank you Gale ,he was he first when we moved to the ranch and he let us know even at 3 months old that he was staying and will continue to be the lord of the manor. ;-) He can get pretty bossy for only a 12 pound fur ball .

My 15 year old niece wants to be a vet, I told her I would do my best to help out as long as she promises not to take advantage of pet owners who will got to great lengths to ensure the health and well being of their 4 legged family members. Some of these new vets can be so very obtuse .

One of our cow vets also occasionally takes care of some clients' dogs and cats, including spaying and neutering for a pittance, rabies shots, things like that. She's a marvel. And when she can, she also takes young people who want to "ride with the vet" with her on calls. The large animal vet population is dwindling in numbers and people need to be encouraged. I think most of the VA Tech vet graduates are women nowadays!

Same as our LA vet, but he was away on vacay with his kids when this happened so we had to use the Sa vet clinic ,which is all young women ,that if they encounter any situation beside spay and neuter have to send you to the specialists in Calgary . I also now believe they are Peta members and vegans just by some comments they have made and from what some other clients have told me about the clinic. So needless to say we will not be using them again.

The vet that examined my cat gave him a quick look over and actually had the audacity to say that I should book him in for a teeth cleaning . At this point I didn't even know if I was going to have a month left with him . What a twit ! My cat could be dying of a very fast spreading sarcoma and she is thinking about how they can make more money off of me .

Yeah, that teeth cleaning thing gets old, doesn't it? Seems no matter what the animal goes in for, the dental aspect is always brought up. Much as I'd like to have another dog someday, I am in no hurry. Just too expensive these days and I don't need another creature to feed and clean up after. I have one indoor cat, one outdoor cat. The indoor one is a PITA. The outdoor cat was spayed years ago, vaccinated for several years, now just gets by on a rabies shot.

I'm a big fan of "I Can Has Cheezburger," are you?

I hadn't heard of that before, but did check it out Some cute and funny videos etc there. Will definitely go back to the site ,thanks .
The one thing I luv about the furball is that he is indoor/outdoor. So when he is inside he behaves, he has never jumped up on counters etc or scratched up anything, and he goes to the bathroom out side so no litter box . Personally, I think he doesn't really know that he is a
C A T .
