keeping calves

I have a group of weaned steers...they are now 8 mths. old and are 7 wts....weaned now 45 days...I have plenty grass and would like to keep the steers untill they weigh 850-900...i've never held calves before and wonder what the down side to this is...probably looking to sell late sept...prices around here are usually at their lowest then, but per head, i think i will do better because i have plenty grass...am i missing something??

with the way prices have wnet up the last week or so I sure wouldn't gamble on holding them
here a 7wt would bring roughly $1.35 or a little more

yeah, here too, i guess that's why i'm second guessing myself..well, we'll see...live and learn...

Why don't you sell and see if you can find some thin 4 weights. You can probably get a load out of Texas as dry as it is.
